OMG: 70 Benin - Ore Accident Victims To Be Given Mass Burial Today

It's so sad, they cannot even be buried by their families. We all need to remember that death can call at the most unexpected times, you can imagine they left and boarded those vehicles with a destination in mind and never got there. We need to review our stand with our Creator, and ask for the grace to live according to His will as nobody knows when and how it will end. May God just help us all not to meet with this kind of death.

The Management of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, has said that it will conduct a mass burial for 70 accident victims, today. UBTH Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Kehinde Ibitoye, in a statement in Benin, Edo State, said the victims were involved in auto-crashes which occurred on Friday, April 5, at Ugbogui village on the Benin-Ore expressway.

Ibitoye said the hospital’s management was negotiating with Oredo Local Government Area for land for the mass burial, adding that all the victims were burnt beyond recognition. She said the only accident victim who was brought alive to the hospital also died, noting that no passenger survived the accident.

Sympathising with relatives of the victims, she said: “The management is left with no other option because the bodies are burnt beyond recognition. “It is not in the interest of the hospital and its immediate environs to continue to keep such bodies.”
