A tragedy was averted on Monday when an attempt on Honourable Dino Melaye's life failed. The former lawmaker who is also a social activist, that has been at the forefront of quenching corruption in Nigeria has God to thank for saving his life. Abeg o, his children are still very young.
It was revealed that his Bentley was shot at twice, but the bullets didn't penetrate even though the car wasn't bullet proof, that's the finger of God at work. The supposed assassins were said to have driven a Golf car whilst carrying out their dastardly acts. All these happened on his way home in Abuja.
DailyPost was able to speak with him briefly and he confirmed he was with the SSS at the moment, before handing us over to the Director of Planning and Strategy for Anti-Corruption Network, a movement he is at the forefront of and here is what he said:
“It’s just a miracle that he is alive. He called me about an hour ago and told me what happened. They were about four or five of them and they shot at his Bentley twice, but the bullets didn’t penetrate. It is a miracle, because they are not bullet-proof. They even tried to jack him down from the car."
When asked if they were possibly robbers, he replied: “It’s a clear case of assassination. No one would want to steal a Bentley. When you fight corruption, corruption tries to fight back."
